Search Engine Optimisation
Links and Structure
It is important that your chosen keyword for a certain page goes beyond the content/copy, it should be included within the code for that page. Search engines give relevance to words placed within the HTML code. The more confident a search engine is about the subject of your website, the higher your page will be in the search rankings.
Some of the best places to put keywords/phrases are:
- Page Title
- Headings
- Alt Tags
- As links
- META tags
- In the URL
Further to this, the structure of your website is important, search engines struggle to spider java and flash so if you have a fantastic looking website with really nice navigation menus built using java or flash and that is the only way to navigate your website, unless there are inbound links to other pages or you have created a sitemap (both html and XML) the search engine won’t make it beyond the front page.
